HISTORY OF POLETTI REALTY

When Lou Poletti founded Poletti Realty in 1956, he was confident he would be successful. The amount of influence he would have on South San Francisco over the next 57 years was completely unexpected. Due to his charitable donations and his compassionate professionalism, the mayor, city council, and fellow businessmen have recognized Lou countless amounts of times.

While Lou’s career began to wind down, the mayor decided to bestow the city’s greatest honor to one of its most endearing and supportive men. At a city council meeting on December 9th, 2009, the council granted Lou with his own street in South San Francisco. Formerly known as Executive Way, the street was renamed Poletti Way in honor of Lou. In January of 2010, the street officially completed the transition to Poletti Way due to the admiration of Lou, his colleagues and friends. As the years passed, Lou remained a vibrant and influential supporter of South San Francisco. To show their gratitude, the city council gave Lou his second Key to the City on his 95th birthday in August of 2011.
Poletti truly became a family affair when Richard Poletti began to work for his dad in the late 1970’s and by 1988, Richard owned the company outright. During the next 20 years Richard worked hand in hand with his father and long time friend Ray Zapletal to make Poletti Realty the reputable family name it is today.
